Immediate Remote Education
What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent home?
Any pupil who is absent from school can access the content of the lessons they are missing. This might be due to a full or partial closure due to a case of Covid-19 or a period of self-isolation due to a pupil, or someone in their household having symptoms or testing positive or the pupil being a named close contact.
A pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching. Class Teachers will post work for students via Microsoft Teams. Pupils should check their class Teams Posts and Assignments for work set.
Pupils are also able to contact their Class Teacher via Microsoft Teams or school email.
If your child does not have a device at home in which they can access the Internet please contact your child's Head of Year who can support with this.
In addition to this, please see below our list of home learning websites that your child can access.
What happens if a group of pupils need to self-isolate?
There may be occasions where a larger group of students are required to self isolate. In this instance work will be made available by their Teachers via Microsoft Teams. In addition to this, where appropriate, classroom based Teachers are also teaching hybrid lessons. Hybrid lessons combine a group of students who are working remotely at home with those students who are in school in the classroom learning. This is a new way of working and Teachers are currently trialling this with groups of pupils. Your child should check their Teams communication for details from their Teacher. Please note this is not always possible for practical subjects.
